In these video clips, shot to make this video, from the spring of 2009, Matthiew rakes the winter leaves off the flower beds. Over one year later the video is made. Procrastination at it's best.

High Waters

In the spring, high water in Kashe Lake creates once a year waterfalls at the dam on the south end. Here are three Lumiere videos of high water at the dam. Each with their own shadow play.

Beauty eh

"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from raining. There's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was just... calling to me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. That's when I realized there was this entire life behind things, and this incredibly benevolent force that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid ever.
Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... I need to remember. Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it... and my heart is going to cave in."

We live in a world where we take everything for granted and don't see the beauty in the mundane. We need to open our eyes and see that everything is miraculously beautiful. Even a plastic bag hopelessly stuck in a tree.

I watched this bag stuck in a tree in my neighbourhood for two weeks, until rain and wind beat the crap out of it and the foliage of the tree consumed it. Every time that I looked, the music from the plastic bag scene in American Beauty ran through my head. Instead of a bag dancing freely in the wind, this bag struggles for freedom. I’m sure that’s a metaphor for something.
